Former Slipknot Drummer Joey Jordison Passed Away At The Age Of 46
Yesterday was a sad day for the music world. Former Slipknot drummer, American musician, and songwriter Joey Jordison passed away at 46. His family wrote a statement to share his loss with his fans and friends.
Slipknot shared a statement about Joey Jordison’s death:
“We are heartbroken to share the news that Joey Jordison who also is the drummer, musician, and artist passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 26th, 2021. He was 46. Joey‘s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow. To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, gentle personality, giant heart and his love for all things family and music.
The family of Joey have asked that friends, fans and media understandably respect our need for privacy and peace at this incredibly difficult time. The family will hold a private funeral service and asks the media and public to respect their wishes.”
Some news sources such as TMZ stated that Joey Jordison’s family will hold a private funeral but there isn’t any information about when and where it will happen. It’s probably going to be behind closed doors since the family talked about privacy in their statement.
Jordison was with Slipknot between 1995 and 2013. In 2013, Slipknot announced they are parting their ways with Jordison. That was the only statement from Slipknot and they haven’t shared any more information about that case. Jordison also hasn’t talked about the reason behind his quitting Slipknot until 2016.
At the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards that year, he said that they fired him from Slipknot without speaking about it in any band member:
“All I got was a stupid fucking e-mail saying I was out of the band that I busted my ass my whole life to fucking create. That’s exactly what happened and it was hurtful. I didn’t deserve that shit after what I’d done and everything I’d been through.”
Joey Jordison and Slipknot
They collaborated on 12 records with the Slipknot band, including studio albums, live albums, collaborative albums, singles, and more.
On November 28, 1995, when he was at work, they made Joey Jordison an offer to join a new project called “The Pale Ones” by Mark Anthony Cadavos. During that time, he felt strange and “lost.
Joey Jordison joined the band as soon as he saw them rehearse in Anders Colsefni’s basement. The band members talked a lot about Slipknot’s early conception as Jordison worked night shifts in Sinclair’s garage. The third of the remaining nine band members, Joey, joined the group. The following generation of American heavy metal musicians would follow Slipknot’s example.
Reactions from Rock Musicians
After his sad loss, a lot of names from the rock/metal world, including his former bandmates shared their emotions through their social media accounts. Slipknot’s official social media accounts went dark with Corey Taylor, Shawn Crahan, and Jim Root joining. Also famous are rockers from Anthrax, Fear Factory, Kreator, All That Remains, and Trivium bands. They’ve also posted from their social media accounts to share their emotions.
We are very sad to hear this news. We share our best wishes with the family and friends of former Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison.
