Limp Bizkit Wanted Fear Factory’s Dino Cazares To Try Out
Dino Cazares, the guitarist and co-founder of the American industrial metal band Fear Factory, recently guested on Talk Toomey Podcast. During this podcast, Cazares shared that in 2001 Limp Bizkit wanted him to try out for the band. Here’s everything about that story.
In his speech to Talk Toomey Podcast, Dino Cazares told the story about how they met Limp Bizkit and how he turned down the offers for an audition. He also mentioned how he witnessed both Limp Bizkit and Korn making a huge success in the late ’90s. This popularity was an explanation for nü-metal’s rising in the L.A. same years.
Dino Cazares started his word by telling how they met with Limp Bizkit during their tour with Iron Maiden around ’95. Cazares said “They came on our bus, they played the demo and they said that Ross Robinson was gonna be producing the album” He also added that he was with them during their first record. Later Limp Bizkit asked him to audition for the band when Wes Borland left the band. Dino Cazares respectfully denied that offer. Wes Borland left the band before in 1997 but returned in the same year. In 2001 he left again and that was the time Cazares got the offer.
After he declined the offer he witnessed the blow-up of Limp Bizkit. Cazares explained that blow up like that.
“I was like ‘nah’, but way back I saw Limp Bizkit f****** blow the f*** up and how that happened. Same thing with Korn, I witnessed Korn blow the f*** up too. I was there, we were on tour with them.”
The minute they f****** started selling f****** 70,000 records a week, it was stupid. It was f****** insane how they blew up. We were on tour with Megadeth, Korn, Flotsam And Jetsam and Fear Factory opening up. Literally on that tour things started to take a shift for that band, ’cause remember this was still their first album and they’d been working that album for about a year and a half before it really started to take off.”
He also compared their sales figures to Limp Bizkit’s and said “We’re selling like 5,000 records a week, 10,000 records a week,’ and they’re like, ‘Oh I’m doing 50,000’ and the next week, ‘Oh I’m doing 70,000 and I’m like ‘holy f***!”
