Metallica releases a new song ‘72 Seasons‘ also the title of the upcoming album. Tim Saccenti directed the new clip, which was also shot in Los Angeles, California last month.
‘72 Seasons‘ is Metallica‘s follow-up to 2016’s “Hardwired… To Self-Destruct,” which will be out on April 14, 2023. Greg Fidelman also produced the album in the band’s San Rafael recording studio alongside James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich.
They just shared a new song also titled an album ’72 Seasons’. And the song is a powerful tribute to nature and its enduring cycles. It features the signature heavy riffs, pounding drums, and soaring vocals that Metallica is known for.
The video is a stunning visual representation of the song’s themes, showcasing breathtaking landscapes and nature’s raw beauty. Metallica has put in a lot of effort and creativity into creating this masterpiece.
The lyrics of “72 Seasons” are a testament to Metallica’s songwriting prowess. The song’s themes revolve around the changing seasons and the circle of life, with lyrics like “The leaves are falling, it’s the end of the fall” and “The light is fading, it’s the end of the day.”
James Hetfield’s thoughts about the ’72 Seasons’ album:
“’72 seasons.’ The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves. The concept that we were told ‘who we are’ by our parents. A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are. I think the most interesting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs. And how it affects our perception of the world today.
Much of our adult experience is a reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry.”
The song’s chorus is particularly impactful, with James Hetfield’s voice soaring over the heavy instrumentation, singing the lyrics are an ode to the beauty of nature and its eternal cycles.
Metallica’s new song and video are a testament to its production capabilities. The video is shot in stunning 4K resolution, showcasing the beauty of nature in crystal-clear detail. The song is masterfully mixed and mastered, with every instrument and vocal perfectly balanced.
The video’s production values are top-notch, with expert camera work and editing that perfectly complement the song’s themes. The video captures the raw power and beauty of nature, immersing the viewer in a world of natural wonder.

The lyrics of Metallica’s ’72 Seasons’ song:

“Feeding on the wrath of man
Shot down, traumatic
Time haunted by the past
Long gone, dogmatic
Although the die is cast
Shot down, volcanic
But what is gone is gone and done
Look back, psychotic
No chance before this life began
Staring into black light
Dominating birthright
Wrath of man
Leaching through, split in two
Wrath of man
Crash into point of view
Wrath of man
Violence, inheritance
Wrath of man
Thrive upon, feeding on
Seventy-two seasons gone
Feeding on the wrath of man
Shoot back, erratic
Mad seasons take their toll
New mask, chaotic
Completely lost control
Shoot back, fanatic
Wither under looming shadow cast
Slip back, narcotic
Blinded by the ashes of the past
Staring into black light
Choking on the stage fright
Wrath of man
Leaching through, split in two
Wrath of man
Crash into point of view
Wrath of man
Violence, inheritance
Wrath of man
Thrive upon, feeding on
Seventy-two seasons gone
Piercing through, cut in two
Polarize
Point of view crash into
Paralyze
Feeding on the wrath of man
Man down, barbaric
Quick fire machine gun thoughts
Deep seed, stigmatic
Some have and some have not
Man down, demonic
No mercy from the ghost within
Turn back, hypnotic
There’s breathing out, but not back in
Staring into black light
Permanently midnight
Wrath of man
Leaching through, split in two
Wrath of man
Crash into point of view
Wrath of man
Violence, inheritance
Wrath of man
Thrive upon, feeding on
Seventy-two seasons gone
Feeding on the wrath of man”
