Ozzy Osbourne Grammy Awarded Song Turns Out to Be Started a Joke

All songs have their own stories, for sure. But besides that truth, the things that start as a joke rather than a real story might have even more potential to end up becoming much bigger truths, after all. And Ozzy Osbourne is also among those examples, as it turns out his Grammy-winning song is one of them, actually.
The reveal of Ozzy Osbourne Grammy-winning songs being a joke came by Zakk Wylde, during his recent interview. The song that belongs to the multi-platinum 1991 album “Mr. Tinkertrain” of Ozzy Osbourne, “I Don’t Want to Change the World” was apparently written as a joke while Ozzy was out of the room during the writing sessions, says the lead singer of the heavy metal band Black Label Society.
“We were at Joe’s Garage, Frank Zappa’s old place, and we were jamming,” started Zakk Wylde telling.
“I remember I was playing the main riff, and then I’d get through it and just stop. And then we’d say something into the mic, like, ‘How not to ever get a date,’ or ‘I have no job and I live with my parents.’ And then we’d go back into the riff.
It was just us on the floor, crying-laughing and coming up with all this stuff that we kept saying in between that riff,” Wylde continued before he explained how the riff took a turn and became the crux of a new song. “Then Ozzy comes walking into the room and he goes, ‘What is that?’ I’m like, ‘What are you talkin’ about?’ And he says, ‘That thing you’re playing. That riff.’ I go, ‘Oh, it’s just a joke…’ And he goes, ‘We’re going to use that.'” recalled Zakk Wylde looking back to the day “I Don’t Want to Change the World” was written and added, “Next thing you know, it won a Grammy!”
Ozzy Osbourne won the 36th Annual Grammy Awards for the song, which also was the first victory of the talented singer throughout his career. So, even though the song was shaped by a joke, after all, it also might be considered as one of the big steps of the regarded singer’s huge career, which also made its way to becoming the first of the three biggest achievements of him. No one also can claim the truth that Ozzy Osbourne launched a huge and successful career, as he has also become one of the most regarded musicians all around the world.
Coming to prominence as the lead vocalist of the legendary heavy metal band Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne had formed the band before he left in 1977. Later that, even if he’d got into the band in 1978, he got fired in 1979 because of his drug and alcohol problems. In 1997, he rejoined Black Sabbath again and stayed at the band this time during their remaining career. Intercalarily, Osbourne also appeared on the band’s eighth studio album, Never Say Die! in 1997, when he rejoined them for the second time. And during his outside career of Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne launched a huge solo career releasing 12 studio albums, reaching success around the world, as he also worked with other famous names as well.
And best known for his tenure as the lead guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne, Zakk Wylde is the founder, lead guitarist, and lead singer of the heavy metal band Black Label Society.
Ultimately, the talented singer Ozzy Osbourne has now also joined among the artists that have been releasing their own NFT’s, while the whole world has been agitated by the new trend of NFT collections. You can find out more about Ozzy Osbourne’s first NFT collection, ‘Cryptobatz,’ here.
