Queen Guitarist Brian May About to Make His Debut as Actor

After conquering the rock and roll world, Queen’s legendary guitarist Brian May now seems decisive to take his step into the acting world as he is about to make his acting debut at the British children’s TV show Andy and the Band‘s upcoming installment.
Airing on BBC’s CBeebies network, Andy and the Band is a show for kids featuring the pop-rock group of English actor Andy Day’s band, Andy & the Odd Socks, which makes educational songs for kids. And as for Brian May’s appearance on the show, the legendary musician had actually turned down the role when it was first offered before he changed his mind after reading the script though.
“It was very moving because it’s a great story,” Brian May explained how he decided to accept his debut role to PA News Agency, “It’s such a lovely look into what happens to kids and how they lose their confidence and what can be done.” The talented guitarist also continued reflecting on the song he will be performing on the show alongside the Odd Socks, saying “It is a good song. I didn’t write it. I did contribute. I’m a person who can’t help sticking my oar in, so we did collaborate on it.”
After his explanation, Brian May also added the Odd Socks help children who “feel like they’re an outcast — it’s an anti-bullying campaign built into what they do, which I think is wonderful. It must give so many kids confidence who have lost their belief because they’re regarded as something different, a bit odd, and they get bullied.”
So, on its next episode which will be airing on January 27, the legendary guitarist of Queen, Brian May will make his first appearing as an actor, portraying “Godfather of Rock,” as he will be performing an original kids’ song, “Planet Rock,” alongside the Odd Socks during the next episode of the show. So as the legendary musician has finally put step into the acting world, he has actually been in it somehow already as well after being portrayed by Gwilym Lee in the 2018 Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody. But after all, the talented musician finally decided to be there by himself instead of being mentioned this time, eventually, which we think has been really great news especially for the fans who have children. Isn’t it great for them to be able to make their kids hear their favorite musician before waiting for them to grow up enough to be able to understand his great music, after all?
Ultimately, the upcoming episode of Andy and the Band will be airing on CBeebies on January 27, while it will be also available to stream on BBC iPlayer on January 24. In addition, ‘Planet Rock,’ the single of Andy and the Odd Socks featuring Brian May will be out on February 18.
Besides his new acting career start, Brian May also spoke about his plans for his upcoming solo album recently, as well.
“I think it probably would be instrumental this time. Because I have enough ideas. And I have lots of unfinished business. So, yeah, I do think about it. And maybe the opportunity is coming up,” revealed Brian May during one of his recent interviews, in which he also touched on the unlucky postpones’ of their upcoming tour with Queen.
