Reddit Banned the Users for Discussing Metallica’s Best Selling Albums
Reddit is the platform for talking about so many things. In that case for example it’s importing to discuss the fan’s favorite albums like Metallica‘s “Kill’em All” album. One of the users from Reddit was banned for life from the site after he mentioned the name of Metallica’s 1983 debut album.
Why is the user banned from Reddit’s Metallica subreddit?
The user posted a video titled: “Reddit permanently bans you from declaring that your favorite music is KEA. Be safe you guys.” The album’s name was discussed in connection with an online discussion that asked which one of the Big Four thrash bands had the most impressive debut album. The user who was banned stated that they believe Kill ‘Em All’s Metallica album, to be the best debut album of this band. We guess some of the moderators are using Reddit as their own community – which is not good for the users.
Reddit cited its rules against threatening violence.
The ban was highlighted in a post in the Metallica subreddit. The user posted a video highlighting the censorship, with screenshots showing that the account was banned for threatening violence.
Here’s the message about the ban decision:
“You’ve been permanently banned for violating Reddit’s rule against threatening violence in the following content. Reddit is a place for creating community and belonging, not threatening or encouraging violence against people or animals. We don’t tolerate any behavior that encourages, glorifies, incites, or calls for violence or physical harm against an individual, groups of people, places, or animals.”
The account was banned as a result of a post comment on an article on the Megadeth subreddit. The post was asking for feedback about the “Best Debut album from The Big 4.” The banned account made the following comment:
“Kill ‘Em All was definitely what originally brought many people into the metal community. I’d say, from an objective standpoint, it would have to be Kill ‘Em All.”
Unfortunately, their request for the appeal is not successful and they are still banned from Reddit.
A few users on the subreddit in which the restriction of speech was discussed commented on the album’s title but they were not prohibited. Because of that, we recommended to Reddit users “KEA” rather than the complete title of the album, to keep them from getting into trouble.
A user also publishes a video then follows with the following message:
“That’s right, LMAO… Reddit permanently bans you for saying the name of your favorite album :)”
