Formed in 1973, Van Halen had always stormed the stages up with its members’ energy and talent, during its almost 5-decade career. And sadly, the beloved and legendary frontman of the regarded band has announced his retirement, saying “I’m throwing in the shoes. I’m retiring,” back on October 1.
David Lee Roth had first joined the beloved band in 1974 until Sammy Hagar came in 1985. And after, his second attention to the band happened in 1996 before his third and the last one happened in 2006. Throughout his legendary and successful career, David Lee Roth had also a great solo career outside of the band, until he decided to retire this year. During his solo career, Lee Roth released six solo studio albums along with his latest and final album titled Diamond Dave released in 2003.
Ultimately, the legendary frontman will be retired, after he inspired so many people and young artists with his incredible journey, reportedly in January as he said so. Roth also said he’d be attending 5 rehearsals for each of his final five shows, which will take place in Las Vegas. And his last performance is scheduled for January 8, 2022. The legendary frontman also said, “We are bringing it in classic VH style. There is no torch being passed,” explaining his retirement concert’s plans.
The regarded frontman of Van Halen also mentioned his retirement in another interview, earlier. He said:
“I’m calling it ‘The Last Tour’,” he said at the time Unless It Isn’t’. At my age, everything is a possible farewell tour,” said Roth and continued,
“It’s been a long great trip, along the great run. But this kind of music requires the kind of energy that people in their 20s bring. You know what NFL stands for: Not For Long. It’s similar in rock. I remember the days when we would stand around and say, ‘Let’s go have a cigarette.’ And that’s what we did: Four guys having one cigarette. I remember those days. They go by fast, so enjoy them while you’re in them.”
And as the regarded rock band Van Halen frontman gets retired soon, ReelzChannel has devoted an episode for David Lee Roth, exploring his real-life and success story with insight from some of the people who knew him best. The episode will air tomorrow, on Sunday, December 12, at 8 a.m. You can also see the special preview clip of Frontman’s upcoming episode for David Lee Roth, down below.
