After the 2022 tour, Arctic Monkeys just announced new dates for 2023. So, their 2022 tour also will end of the year but the band starts again in May 2023.
Arctic Monkeys kick off in Bristol on May 29th. First stops in cities like Manchester, Norwich, Southampton, and Glasgow. The band will also play two nights each in their hometown of Sheffield and London. The Hives will open the concerts for the duration of the United Kingdom tour.
The tour tickets will sale Friday, September 30th at 10:00 a.m. local time.
Regarding Arctic Monkeys band’s new album will release on October 21st, 2022 via Domino Records. This long-awaited full-length album is a follow-up to 2018’s “Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino” album.
The new album cover art shot of photographer Matt Helders, and the tracklist. It features a track called “There’d Better Be a Mirrorball,” another called “I Am Not Where I Think the I Am,” which the band debuted on the last day of their tour in Zurich as well as eight additional tracks.
Butley Priory has recorded the new and upcoming album in Suffolk, RAK Studios in London, and La Frette in Paris. In the time since Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, Arctic Monkeys have shared the B-side “Anyways,” performed for Austin City Limits, and released a live album to support charity in the city’s Royal Albert Hall. Arctic Monkeys are playing several previously announced festivals worldwide.
Alex Turner also talked about the album and the band tour:
“It probably does feel about 20 years ago, but that’s an interesting one, isn’t it? Because sometimes you feel like you could walk through a door and be right back there.
I’m trying to scratch a little bit of that feeling here on the new record. It feels like a long time ago, but it can be right behind you. Something reminds you and it takes you back. There is a lyric on Hello You that says, ‘I could pass for 17 if I just get a shave and catch some zzzzs’. Maybe that’s barking up that tree a little? Well, a lot. I’m thinking about going to the snooker club with my granddad and it feels like we were just there. But, wait a minute, there’s all this time in between.”
About the upcoming album:
“At the time it happened very quickly and was a shock to the system. We topped the charts for the first time and everything became quite different very quickly.
But there was always a feeling that this could be over in a few months: the bottom is going to fall out any minute. I’m thinking about you mentioning The View From The Afternoon. We have [Arctic Monkeys] been playing in these last few shows when I’m doing that, it feels like it would take more than a shave and a sleep to feel 17!”
