Who Was Corey Taylor’s Wife? An In-Depth Look At His Marriage
Slipknot frontman and Stone Sour founder Corey Taylor has held the metal world in the palm of his hand since 1999. His distinct voice assumed a lead role in molding the sound of nu-metal. His public persona flits between cringe-worthy, middle-aged angst to the wisdom of a loveable legend. And, as author of four books blending personal philosophies with rare biographical insights, Corey Taylor can be counted amongst the most informed and influential metal vocalists of a generation.
But Corey doesn’t just keep the music world captivated. He’s also got the ladies wrapped around his finger too. Taylor is currently married to his third wife, drawing fans to christen him the King Henry VIII of the metal scene; powerful yet compelled towards cycles of love and disaster.
So, who are Corey Taylor’s three wives? Let’s crack open the marriage register and find out.
Scarlett Stone
For old-school Slipknot and Stone Sour fans, Corey Taylor’s first wife, Scarlett Stone, was an iconic figure in her own right. After meeting Corey in 1998 (allegedly at a Los Angeles party), Scarlett Stone became a regular face on the metal scene, appearing alongside her husband at various award shows and public spectacles.
Scarlett Stone is an American actress and voice actress. But her biggest claim to fame, like all of Corey’s wives, came playing the real-life role of girlfriend to Slipknot’s superstar vocalist.
After dating for over six years, Corey and Scarlett Stone married in the spring of 2004, opting for a small ceremony at Des Moines Botanical Garden. But despite waiting a healthy period before tying the knot and welcoming a son (Griffin Parker Taylor, born 2002) in the process, the couple divorced in early 2007 after friction, toxicity, and personal struggles wreaked irreparable havoc on their relationship.
Corey Taylor has opened up about his struggles with addiction and suicidal depression countless times over the course of his career. But some of his darkest moments came in the midst of his relationship with Scarlett, straining their bond beyond repair.
After preventing Corey from jumping from an eighth-floor balcony on the Sunset Boulevard in 2003, Scarlett gave her fiancee an ultimatum: either get sober or break up, with Scarlett taking custody of their son. Taylor made the right choice, getting sober and marrying Scarlett the following year, saving his life in a myriad of ways. But recovery is a long, non-linear process, and after the couple’s eventual marriage breakdown, Corey relapsed before getting sober again in 2010.
A number of major Slipknot and Stone Sour tracks have been inspired by Corey’s marriage and divorce from Scarlett Stone, including Slipknot’s 2008 single, “Snuff,” and Stone Sour’s 2010 single, “Hesitate” — each shedding new light on the power couple’s dissolution.
Stephanie Luby
Corey Taylor’s second marriage was to Stephanie Luby, a professional model and fashion designer hailing from New York City.
Corey and Stephanie were married at the Palms Hotel Concert Theater in Las Vegas in November 2009, swapping out “Here Comes The Bride” to walk down the aisle to the tune of Metallica’s “For Whom The Bells Toll”. With an alleged 350 guests in attendance, a clip of Corey and Stephanie’s vow exchange was leaked on YouTube, giving a sweet glimpse into the couple’s humor and first tearful kiss as a married couple.
The pair welcomed a daughter named Ryan sometime between 2014 and 2015. However, after an eight-year marriage, Corey and Stephanie filed for divorce in 2017. Corey’s Twitter announcement captured the explosivity of their separation while beating down the prying eyes of the press, stating: “Because ‘people’ want to gossip on my son’s [Griffin’s] Instagram, I’ll set the record straight, even tho some of you don’t deserve it. I’ve been separated for almost 10 months now. I started dating someone a couple months ago. My FRIENDS have known. Now YOU know. I’ll ask ONCE: DROP IT.”
In 2023, Corey revealed the darker shades of his relationship in a more collected manner, speaking to Louder Sound about what led the long-standing couple to such a ruthless divorce: “I was married to the wrong woman, and it sucked. It was a very toxic relationship, and it ate a part of me that I don’t know if I’ll ever get back […] It’s changed the way I look at life because of one wrong decision, and then you wake up one day and you’re like, I don’t know who the **** I am.”
Alicia Dove
Corey Taylor is currently married to Alicia Dove, model and member of the all-female rock dance group Cherry Bombs. Born in Texas, Alicia began her career as a pro-NFL cheerleader for the Atlanta Falcons before joining Cherry Bombs in 2012, driven by a vision of integrating dance with metal.
Alicia met Corey whilst touring with Stone Sour in 2017. Corey personally invited Cherry Bombs on that tour, as Alicia revealed on Twitter two years later, “In 2017 he hit me up to tour becaue he had seen us on the Buckcherry run. In building that tour together, we clicked intensely.”
Alicia added in her interview with Alamo True Metal, “When you tour together, you’re around each other a lot; I mean, there’s nowhere to go. And we just connected so quickly and easily.”
After hitting it off instantly, the pair went public with their relationship in May 2018 and got engaged the next April. Alicia spilled the details on Twitter, revealing: “After breakfast at home, as I put the salsa back in the fridge I shut the door and he was standing there with a ring. Got down on one knee, and I immediately started crying on the floor with him. In our kitchen. In our sweats, nothing fancy. It was ****ing perfect.”
In October 2019, Corey and Alicia were married in Las Vegas, allegedly by an Elvis impersonator. Their wedding video, posted on Twitter, unveiled their metal twist on a traditional handfasting ceremony; Corey sports an all-black suit while Alicia embodies boho goddess energy in her white lace wedding dress.
The pair remain happily married. Corey even features in photoshoots for Alicia’s Instagram page, most recently a Valentine’s shoot with photographer Ashley Von Helsing!
