As is traditional, this year’s choices span a wide range of genres, from rock to pop to hip-hop. There are (Record Store Day) has a variety of offerings available in the rock and metal scene, particularly heritage releases.
Black Label Society’s “Skullage,” a comprehensive compilation of Black Label Society’s finest albums, is available on premium vinyl in the metal scene. “A selection of the band’s early best songs.” “Out of print since 2010, and available for the first time on colored vinyl for RSD Black Friday,” states the official RSD website. Kittie’s “Oracle,” their debut vinyl record on red vinyl, is another metal offering.
What are the album releases for Record Store Day 2022 and where?
Over 1400 independent music stores taking part in the United States, 260 in the United Kingdom, and another 1200 stores. It’s an experience celebrated throughout the panel, with the important exception of Antarctica, which has no record stores.
The lineup of over 170 unique vinyl releases is almost free of contemporary pop superstars. They will no doubt please some of the normal semiannual RSD customers who have armloads of relative obscurities. They want to pick up and don’t mind single-minded novices obstructing their path. The Doors will release 10,000 blue vinyl copies of “Paris Blues.” As unlikely as The Doors may have any previously unheard original songs, there is one, and it serves as the title tune for this EP.
Fleetwood Mac will release “The Alternate Collection” on clear vinyl, limited to 9,000 copies on vinyl and 10,000 copies on CD, delivering a package that includes all six alternate Fleetwood Mac albums originally issued by Rhino/Warner. Also, Red Hot Chili Peppers have also released “Return of the Dream Canteen.”
