Corey Taylor Recalls Tool’s Live Concerts “I Get Bored”
Slipknot and Stone Sour‘s frontman Corey Taylor shares his thoughts on Tool‘s live shows. During a new interview with Steve-O’s Wild Ride podcast, Steve-O asked a few more questions to Slipknot‘s frontman, like who his favorite live band is, live show bands, and more.
He finished promoting his latest album, “CMFT” with the tour. This tour is from May until August. This tour includes special guests, The Cherry Bombs and The Dead Deads with 26 concerts across the United States and Canada. After this tour, Corey Taylor will release his upcoming “CMF2” album on September 15th, 2023.
According to Corey Taylor, this tour will be “bigger, better, and badder” than ever, featuring a combination of new and old songs from his vast career. Fans may expect to hear some of his solo songs, such as “Black Eyes Blue,” “Samantha’s Gone,” and “HWY 666,” as well as some Slipknot and Stone Sour oldies, such as “Wait and Bleed,” “Through Glass,” and “Snuff.” Furthermore, owing to the involvement of The Cherry Bombs and The Dead Deads, who are known for their intense and dynamic performances, the night will showcase a unique combination of rock, metal, country, and pop, accompanied by eye-catching graphics, pyrotechnics, and acrobatics.
In a recent interview, Stevie-O shared that his favorite live music band is Tool. After this answer, Slipknot’s frontman Corey Taylor reveals who his favorite live band is and why he thought Tool’s live shows bored:
“The way that they lock in together is fucking unreal. They’re so good that it’s criminal. Tool, to me, is an acquired taste. Because they’re so dialed that it’s almost like listening to the album,” Taylor explained. “And as a punk kid growing up, that’s not necessarily where I’m at.
They’re amazing at what they do, but when I go to a show, I want to see something as well. And because they’re not as demonstrably active, I get bored.
And I hate to say that. It’s not because they’re boring. It’s because I’m myself bored. Because I’m so used to shit like Napalm Death where Barney walking up walls and fucking jumping on people’s heads.
But what do is so… I mean, Danny Carey’s one of the greatest fucking drummers of all time. The way they mesh together as a band is so effortless. They take you there. And they’ll extrapolate stuff for minutes upon minutes, they’re just pulling you in. It’s crazy. Maybe I should go and see them now. As I’m older I would probably appreciate it more than when I was younger.”
Corey Taylor’s thoughts on why Alice in Chains is his favorite live band:
“Jerry… the whole band is amazing. And the way that Sean Kinney, the drummer, swings as he plays because everything for them is naturally slower. The things that they do to manipulate the riffs because they’re so sludgy anyway … The way that they lock in together is fucking unreal. They’re so good that it’s criminal. To this day, they’re that good.”
