Serj Tankian Shares Details of New EP with VR Experience
Serj Tankian just shares details of the new EP with a VR experience. This upcoming and new EP called “Perplex Cities” will release on October 21th, 2022. Now streaming a first single called “Pop Imperialism” and you can listen below!
His upcoming EP is a 5-track set and finds the singer treading new ground musically and a new way of sharing music videos.
Serj Tankian also described it: “This whole collection of songs within Perplex Cities is a completely different sound than what I’ve done before. More electronic, subtle and deeper in terms of its layers of presentation musically. Perplex Cities gives off an aura that is unique and unlike my previous releases.
I’m always trying to create new and interesting ways to connect with people via my music. We made some amazing videos for the last EP Elasticity, so I wanted to try something different for Perplex Cities. I love the idea of appearing in the room with someone listening to my music. It’s intimate, fun, and different.”
Every each week a new song will be available with augmented reality each week using the Arloopa application on your Android or iOS phones. With the application, the artist will appear as the viewer-viewer who can describe the song and follow the music. The album Perplex Cities will be available in Serjical Strike.
‘Perplex Cities’ EP tracklist:
- Pop Imperialism
- The Race
- I Spoke Up
- Rumi Loves His Cars
- Forgive Me Father
He will also unveil his work in Stephanie’s Gallery in the Los Angeles area on the 9th of October in a show titled Shapeshift A lively journey into the diversities. The event will run until November 1 and will feature compositions designed by Serj Tankian. He will also surprise visitors with more immersive VR experiences with Arloopa.
This EP is also the follow-up album to Elasticity from the 2021 EP. The band’s two most recent tracks, “Protect the Land” and “Genocidal Humanoidz” came out in the year 2020. Tankian has clarified that the band’s lack of plans to release an album soon, however during July, the singer was joined by the drummer John Dolmayan on stage to perform the group’s “Aerials” during the 50th birthday celebration of the group held in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico.
Serj Tankian just collaborates with a video game based on singers called “Metal: Hellsinger” and explains the game:
“Your ability to shoot on the beat will enhance your gameplay experience. The more in sync you are with the rhythm, the more intense the music will become and the more destruction you will cause.
Defeat the demon hordes with a skull-clad blade or a wide range of murderous guns. Different about this game. You gotta really be a part of the song and the rhythm to gain the points. It’s really incredible, really fast, really heavy, very interesting, and very progressive. And that’s why I decided to join and be a part of this. I loved the song. It’s 7 minutes, and it takes you on this crazy journey. It’s very fast and very rhythmical so your fingers… you will probably lose some ligaments.”
You can watch how you can use Arloopa application for the “Perplex Cities” VR experience below!
